Get to know Silvia!
Originating from Munich, Silvia is one of the few German snowboarders to have made an international impact on the sport through the years. Learning to snowboard in 1997, she has grown into a very well-rounded rider, able to take it from the pipe and park to the pow with ease and complete a balanced season comprised of strong video parts and competition results. Silvia spends a lot of time in the United States in her favourite resort Breckenridge to fine-tune her park skills when not traveling for events or photoshoots otherwise.
What’s happening in Silvia’s world right now?
Hi world, I am back!
It was supposed to be an Olympic winter. But it ended up an Achilles tendon tear.
The pre-season was incredible. I felt so strong in the month of November and rode very well. On December 1st, wheather due to stress, bad luck or fate, I tore my Achilles tendon and ended my competetive season right there. Thanks to very intense rehab I made it back on snow in April and had a great snowboard spring all the way into June.
In August, I went to Australia and for the first time competed in a major event (The Mile High) since the horrible accident. Just making it to finals in a world class field including XGames- and Olympic-winners made me more than happy, but ending up 3rd was beyond my wildest comeback dreams. I take it as motivation for the winter and have to say once again that even the worst injury can be overcome with a big heart and strong will.
